Dear all, Well, to start this email could be offensive to some people so i start with saying sorry to all and do not take it personal it is just a "point of view".
This is a very long email so you can discarded since it has nothing important in it ... As i see our LUG has failed from the days of ITU, and it was in the ICU for a long time, and finally it died peacfully. During the days of ITU many people tried to do many things, we build our website, and used the wiki system to make it possible for everyone to edit the pages and help in improving our website, and what happened is only 4-5 people was editing the website and decreased to 1 then to 0. People came to the ITU lectures just expecting to take and not to give and around 98% of the attendees didn't want to give. We have a cultural issue, we have been raised to depend on others and to be feded the information, this is the way schools and universities work here in Jordan. No one wants to read or try things, and when we wanted to hold people responsible for that a war started are we committed or not. Well, we had an idea that we have to build this LUG based on what you said, but people doesn't want to be responsible and almost everyone avoided to hold the responsibilities, and even if he accepted to do what he was asked to do he doesn't do it. Well, we are a lazy culture and we already have our personal issues and our personal things to do, well, i personally prefer to play cards more than to edit our website, especially when i return back to home at 8 pm, i want to eat, enjoy my time, and spend sometime with the family so i do NOT have time for this LUG and i am sure that most of you has the same issue As Aram said, if we are going to pay fees then i need to expect something for that money that i paid, and with this type of mentality and style of life (of all of us) the people who are going to pay money will get disappointed because they are going to get nothing in return. For a steering committy to work it needs people to steer, and if there will be responsibilities then the steering committy is going to steer itself, so it is not going to work. Amer i am not asking you to be realistic, but since you didn't attend so much meetings then you don't know the people who are in the LUG already and you don't really know what we need and how can we succeed. You are like someone who consults NASA to go to the sun without having any idea about the astronomy. All of the people who comes to the social meetings are enjoying the meetings and having fun, and we personally wants to keep it that way, if you do not like that, you can start your own LUG and do it the way you like and you may have people who likes to join you, and you don't know if you succeeded we may join you too. That been said, i am sorry for anyone who got upset and i am sorry for saying the truth in that way, and as i said before, this is a free world who doesn't like it can start doing it his own way and we all wish him luck and success.
