You managed to summarize the whole problem. I do agree it's a cultural problem, and it damn sux. Even people working in he programming field mostly suck, they're shame on the computers. I've seen things that my heart aches when I remember.
But, there's always a but, I try to change sorroundings, I try to start spoon feeding others first, then tell them, if you wanna be a programmer, it depends on you, not who teaches you. Some people do change, others never change. I guess best thing I learnt from the LUG is to try to help our community, but not in linux based issues, mental issues. If we work on this, in our enviroment, in 5-10 years, we can form a proper LUG. I loved every word you said khamis, but I think things can change, not overnight though.
