in early J7 dictionary (1993), monad +: *: -: are defined as +:y is y+y *:y is y*y -:y is y%2
but later in J2 dictionary (1994) onwards, it uses english word like +: y is twice y *: y is the square of y -: y is one half of y It seems original definition is more precise as it does not need to establish definition of twice`sqaure`half.
