So, I have access to that machine again...

I delete j64-701/bin and it does not exist
I start j64-701/bin/jconsole gtkide and get the message about jgtk is
not installed

Here's a partial session transcript from that point:

-------------------------------------------------------------

   install 'gtkide'
Updating server catalog...
Installing gtk binaries...
Finished install of gtk binaries.

   load 'gtkide'

jgtk front end is not installed.

-------------------------------------------------------------

And, now j64-701/gtk/ holds about 24 megabytes of files.

Ric Sherlock had asked about another course of action, so:

   load 'pacman'
   'update' jpkg ''
Updating server catalog...
Local JAL information was last updated: 10 Nov 2011 09:06:29
Installed addons are up to date, 2 addons are not yet installed.
The base library is up to date.

So.. what is going on here?
   loadd'gtkide'
   smoutput 0 : 0

jgtk front end is not installed.
...

Looks like a design problem, to me.
