I must disagree. This worm writer has performed a great public
service. Making people patch their computers. MS should be writing
worms like this.

I know a lot of folks who don't want to patch their computers because
some of these patches come with changed EULAs they don't want to accept.
Unfortunately, they also can't change over to Linux because some
programs they use/need are only written for M$. Catch-22. Isolating
these systems off-network is also not an option since many folks need to
share the hundreds of files used by these systems with offices in
different countries. Basically, they're screwed and just have to make
do. So they spend thousands hoping the anti-virus folks can keep up
(which they can't). A really lamentable situation.

Uhm, can I ask since your a contractor, what type of software out there are you seeing that MS has that these people need?

I know I'm going to sound like an asshole, but if you
have time, can you give me a hint as to what a few of these
programs are, or what links on this type of software
deficiency Linux lacks over Windows?

[ I'm a telecom guy, not a computer guy ]

I don't think with Linux it could be networking
( but I am as dumb as a post ), and I don't think a
webserver or e-mailers, so besides OFFICE, what
do most people that you've spoken to want now?

Again, I'm am as dumb as a post. If it Games, I agree,
Linux is hooped, but what else does Windows really have
to offer over Linux now?
