Two wrongs do not make a right. Ashcroft/Bush should be tarred and feathered for that horrid piece of legislation known as the "Patriot Act".
But you can't defend Reno/Clinton by pointing out that Ashcroft/Bush is just as bad.
Judge them both on their own merits.
