Fair enough. However, comparing the Elian Gonzalez fiasco to the Patriot Act is comparing apples to oranges. The Patriot Act impacts citizens and whichever non-citizens that Bush chooses to use it against. The Elian Gonzalez fiasco impacted Elian Gonzalez.
I didn't compare Gonzales to the Patriot act. I believe it was Bruce that brought up Gonzales.
I *will* compare the Patriot Act to the Assault Weapons Ban. Both were unconstitutional. Both were grounds for impeachment. Both were actively championed by the President and his AG.
Thankfully the AWB had an expiration clause. Unfortunately the PA doesn't.
