Yea, I too got a chuckle from reading that.  Americans are largely 
complete idiots when it comes to learning from mistakes.  We make the same 
ones over & over & over again, and each time wonder why.

Personally, I think the problem is that not enough people vote.  If 
Americans were forced to vote (like in Australia), perhaps the electorate 
would be more representitive of the population, and more importantly, the 
candidates would have to change their campaign tactics to reach a broader 
percentage of the voting age population.
