To be clear, XmlSchema 2.0 will NOT be a drop in replacement for 1.4.x. It shifts to java5 so API's have changed, but it also has cleaned up a lot of things with the way Schemas are maintained and such. Thus, it WILL require a porting effort for projects to port from 1.4.x to 2.x. That process is well underway for CXF (Benson and I had all the tests passing yesterday, but then we made some more changes and broke everything :-) ). What Benson is looking for would be someone to try porting Woden and/or Axis2 to use the new API's to see if there is anything that would be an issue and if there are additional changes or similar that would be good to get in. If no- one tries it, then Axis2/Woden really have a few options: 1) Stay on 1.4.x forever. 2) Accept whatever we decide on and live with it. If you don't participate, you don't really have a say. :-) 3) At some point in the future, try porting and possibly propose additions or something for 2.1 or similar. Obviously, I'd love it if folks would try things sooner rather than later. The more eyes looking at it, the better.
