Thanks for that.
Is the free internet access done down the same
'cable' as voice calls?

Do you mean your Internet connection is via a conventional electrical
telephone line or are your outgoing signals sent into an optical cable
like NTL's?

Yes, of course, I totally agree - never use install disks. But with
NTL, I believe there is a slight snag, though I'm not sure what
exactly. One thing I can tell you is that NTL don't make available
the necessary details, eg dialup number, login, password, pop setting.
smtp setting etc.. Also, as its a cable comms telephone link, I doubt
that it can be dialled into using a conventional telephone line.
This is why I posted my question, which I repeat for anyone who missed
it...
Can anyone tell me whether Genisys (or the other one, for that matter)
can connect to NTL's cable dialup? A standard analogue modem is used
and NTL supply a box that converts the signal into NTLs own optical
fibre datastream. I am not talking about a standard telephone link
into an NTL server. I mean a direct link straight into NTL's cable
laid in the street.
Please, anyone, has anyone, anywhere, done this with NTL - repeat,
NTL - and an Amiga?
