Hello Haage&Partner, GENESiS Developers,
I use AmiTCP-GENESiS since NetConnect2.
I plan to upgrade to NetConnect3. I also plan on buying OS3.9.
Soon I will have a connection over Cable Modem.
Now my questions:
Is GENESiS being continued ? Or is it a dead product, to be used
to offer a TCP stack in OS3.9 and getting smaller cosmetic changes.
Or will it be continued ?
I heard PPPoE is not possible with the current GENESiS. But this
is required for cable-modems.
I would welcome a solution to continuosly monitor all connections.
Some name it c0nn3X1oN5, you know what I mean ;-)
Will the MUI version be continued ? I prefer the MUI version over
all.
I'd like to use the Network-Status window, but ATM I can only open
it with the main window at once.
Some extras from MiamiDX could be carbon-copied ;-)
Especially the method to keep a connection alive while rebooting.
My modem is capable of keeping the carrier even if a reset occures.
Miami has an option to save all relevant data to NV RAM and reuse
it later. While in Germany reates are quite okay, where I live at
the moment I have to pay for eac call up to a certain limit.
If I overstep this limit (approx DM1.50), I am free to surf until
7 o'clock in the morning. Should I crash, I have to dial in again,
adding another DM1,50 to my bill.
I have tried connecting to CompuserveOffice ISP in DE. I got a "PAP
Auth failed" error and the connection got unusable, but did not
break. I had to manually break it.
Same happened with MiamiDX but I still could access the internet,
without having a local hostname. A requester told me about a mis-
configured ISP.
So, may I ask what is planned for AmiTCP-GENESiS ?
Thank you for your time.
Good bye,

Andreas
