I don't think that most cable providers require "Point to Point Protocol
over Ethernet" (PPPoE). I am able to connect with ATT's version of @home
using Genesis with an X-Surf ethernet card. I actually use a Linksys
router now between the cable modem and the three computers I have sharing
the connection. I did use it once or twice without the router using both
Miami and Genesis. I didn't bother to figure out how to get AmiTCP 4.3 up
and running (although I did try a couple of things).

Are you looking for a multi-homed solution or are you just looking for a
packet sniffer?

That is a relatively simple matter of setting your modem to stay up on
dropped DTR. It isn't something magic that only Miami can do. Of course
with a cable modem, none of this matters as it never hangs up.

This is the "ignore DTR" that I spoke of above.

Using Genesis, all you need to do (as I recall) is use the bootpconfig
command to re-establish the connection. It would be handy to have a simple
checkbox or some such, but I'm not sure I like having sentinals hiding in
my system.
