I've been trying to get gensplash working on my 2.6.11-gentoo-sources,
and have been having some rather irritating issues. As far as I can
tell, fbsplash support is getting built into the kernel, as is the
correct initramfs, but every time I boot, I get no love. I've tried
recompiling the kernel from a clean source directory with no results.
The wierd thing is that even though my .config disables tileblitting and
enables fbsplash, looking at /proc/config.gz, tileblitting is enabled.
Since I'm starting to think that the kernel is just somehow embedding an
old configuration (for some odd reason I had enabled it before... most
likely I missed it, but whatever), does anyone know of any way I can
check the currently running kernel to see if it has fbsplash support
built in? Or how I can verify that the initramfs is correct?
