A bit more work on internationalisation of applications. For instance,
openoffice-bin is currently only available in English, it would be great if
it would also listen to the LINGUAS (or is it LANGUAGE) variable and install
the appropriate internationalised version.

Develop a graphical interface for software installation with _minimal_
amount of features (fex. just query, install, remove, update and security)
and the promise that additional features will not be implemented. Think
http://dev.gentoo.org/~swift/software-management.html, although that
proposal is a bit more extensive on other parts as well.

Some documentation on how packages integrate in a system. How does a package
add an item in the KDE/GNOME/fluxbox/E/... menu? How does a window manager
add it to the existing sessions (and where)?

Work out a goal regarding Desktop Experience. When will a user say "this is
slow" or "this reacts as it should"? When will Jhon Doe feel that an
interface is intuitive and when will it think that it sucks? Document what
combinations of software titles adhere to this Desktop Experience. Of course,
work to get more software titles added as well. This doesn't mean that
non-Desktop-Experience titles are bad, on the contrary. But it might prove
to be a good guideline to improve the desktop for some Gentoo users.

Put tutorials out on how to do stuff (hint: contact the GDP to help you with
this :), such as "Get a scanner to work with Gentoo". Screenshots are
greatly appreciated by users when graphical stuff needs to be done
(commandline thingies can easily be documented though).

Just some of the things that drop in my mind...
