Probably.  I struggled for weeks.  This is a brand new el cheapo card from Best Buy.  
No problems with ALSA, but the info on the ALSA site recommended a non-existent 
driver, interestingly enough.

I have built in sound on my motherboard (KT3-AV), but the sound requires amplified 
speakers!

Sound is without a doubt the biggest PITA on Linux!
