i've never configured a vlan using linux, but i think there is plenty of information 
on the 'net if you use a [not so] little tool called http://www.google.com

not sure about whether this tool exists in portage... doubtful.  Vlan's aint for your 
avg usr.  i gave up on an `emerge -s --searchdesc vlan` cuz it just takes so darn long 
:P
