i've never configured a vlan using linux, but i think there is plenty of information on the 'net if you use a [not so] little tool called http://www.google.com

I know about that lil' thang named "Google", and I know about the candelatech.com site.
not sure about whether this tool exists in portage... doubtful. Vlan's aint for your avg usr. i gave up on an `emerge -s --searchdesc vlan` cuz it just takes so darn long :P
The reason why I asked about it in relation to portage is that since the kernel contains the VLAN patches from candelatech.com, there's no reason why the user level tools to manage the stuff shouldn't be in there as well.
