This machine (Athlon XP-2100/512Megs RAM Leadtech K7NCR18D Pro board)
is still crashing. the average uptime has been about 5 hours. I've
gone through all sorts of possible solutions to try to catch problems
but nothing gets logged. Cpu temp, cpu load, memory usage and running
or not running several newly updated apps all seem to have no bearing
on when the box crashes. For the last 3 days I have been trying to
eliminate a few more possibilities. I booted the box to Knoppix for
24 hours without crashes. Because Knoppix has no nvnet module for my
onboard NIC I fount Overclockix which is a remastered knoppix with
the modules I needed.

Overclockix also ran flawlessly for over 20 hours.
Next I booted back into Gentoo and emerged Windowmaker and got a
basic WM desktop running. Now, I don't have nearly all I need
configured but I can function. The box was up for 12 or 13 hours
running wm without crash. I've restarted KDE and I'm showing 260 +
megs of ram used with only Kmail running compared to 124 megs under
similar conditions while using Windowmaker.
I guess I'm grasping at straws here but it seems to me that KDE might
be my problem. I was thinking of recompiling kde. Would something
like <# emerge -e kde> rebuild all of KDE and dependancies? Other
possible solutions would be appreciated.
