I have determined that I cannot run this reliably right now with SetiAtHome running. Once I stopped that (I do use it on 3 other Gentoo boxes) my crashes decreased but did not go away. I'm crashing once a day now. Just in the last few days I started having some strange video stuff happening when I first boot the machine in the morning. It stops in a few minutes, so I'm thinking that may be a temperature related problem with the video card. I have stopped leaving the machine unattended in X, meaning log out and don't use xscreensaver, and I have only had one crash in the last 3 days. I'm going to dig in a bit this weekend and maybe swap video cards around between machines and see what happens. I'm hoping my problem is this card going bad and I'll just end up replacing that as opposed to the MB. Give some thought to what hardware you might be able to swap between machines. If you crash every few hours it should be pretty easy to find which one, if any, is the root cause of a hardware related crash. Good luck, Mark -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
