Damn, 260 megs?? You got something going on there.. As you may already be 
aware.. Here is my pathetic machine with kmail..

mine is not using anywhere the memory your using.. If I am reading it right... 
I don't even have that much memory I could use without locking the pc.. Which 
btw could be your problem. Have you always had kmail up? Or maybe something 
kmail is using.. (library)

No, I just tried it and it wanted to compile glibc, gcc..... I didn't compare 
it to world to see if its just doing all of kde and the dependencies..
