No, Denis *did not* write it .... Colleen did and I still think so, but no matter! ;-) > >> Maybe it was some incompatibility with the 2.6.21-r4 kernel (I'm >> > using genkernel, not > >> vanilla sources)?? >> > > I have nvidia-drivers-100.14.09 running under kernel 2.6.21-gentoo-r4 > (manually configured vanilla sources), on both machines actually, and > not a single problem getting those running. > > I didn't have any special options for nvidia enabled in the kernel > either. The *only* difference was that the xserver wasn't running in the background when I compiled the nvidia-drivers. This time I was able to get into X after restarting the server after compiling the nvidia-drivers against 2.6.21-r4. Lesson learned I guess. Thanks Denis for the xdm tip. It's one I probably wouldn't have thought of. I never had to worry about doing that with ati-drivers ;-) And again, I apologize to Jesùs for my earlier testiness. What can I say, I was a day without a decent computer at home and I'm a junky! ;-) Regards, Colleen -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
