When using version 8 of the USGS GXs, make sure you don't have any old
usgs_* files in gx and bin directories under \Program Files
(x86)\Geosoft\Oasis montaj\.
All usgs_* files should be in the gx and bin directories under \Program
Files (x86)\Geosoft\Oasis montaj\resourcefiles.

I discovered some old usgs_ files on my system, and they were giving me the
same bad post file behavior you describe.
