When using version 8 of the USGS GXs, make sure you don't have any old usgs_*
files in gx and bin directories under \Program Files (x86)\Geosoft\Oasis
montaj\.
All usgs_* files should be in the gx and bin directories under \Program Files
(x86)\Geosoft\Oasis montaj\resourcefiles.

I discovered some old usgs_ files on my system, and they were giving me the
same bad post file behavior you describe.

Hi Doug,

Using OM 8.1, the latest.

yes, you place the files in the directories as advised including the lib1
directory. To get the good PST files output, the paths were changed in Windows
to match the updated USGS directory structure.

Hi Ed

Thanks for your reply. I looked at the readme file for the new USGS OM8 and
then put the files in the directories that were specified there. The main
difference if I remember correctly is that all the folders for bin, ohm, etc...
are in a folder called resourcefiles now in version 8.0.
So you are having success with all the new Gxs? Are you using OM 8.1 or 8.0?
The only ones that seem to work for me are the ones that don't require .pst
files like RTP calculation or upward continuation. I have had some other
problems so am considering either reinstalling 8.0 or updating to 8.1.

Cheers,
Doug

Are the Windows environment variables/path set up for the new USGS OM8 compile?
These changed for the new USGS compile. I'm getting good PST files with the new
compile, when the older ver 7 compile produced PST file errors.

Subject: [geonet] USGS Gxs

Hi
Has anyone been using the USGS Gxs that were updated for Oasis montaj 8.0. I
just downloaded them and am still running into problems with the .pst files.
The magnetic source from special function and euler deconvolution seem like
they are working and then they are unable to create .pst files with the
solutions. Has anyone had similar problems?
Cheers,
Doug
