Todd, there is a free little piece of software out there on the web called
Irfanview (the creator does appreciate donations) that I have found to be very
handy. Although it does much more, it makes very easy work of cropping and
reducing the file size of just about any image file you can imagine. I have
used it for maps exported from Target and other programs and have always been
very happy with the results.

Best of luck to you!

I am having trouble opening the files generated when I export a map from Target.

The image file size is very big (much bigger than what is generated with other
software I have used). I am getting bmp files in the order of 400,000 KB and if
I select JPG format it reduces to 22,000 KB.

I want to be able to reduce the file sizes so I can email (and also so they
don’t take up so much hard drive space).

I can open all files with Windows Photo Viewer but can’t use this software to
reduce the file size.

I seem to be able to open the odd file with Paint but generally get an error
message saying “it is not a valid file or its format is not currently
supported”.

I have the same problem with other programs.

Any ideas?
