Once that is fixed I guess the module is good to become an extension and be shipped along with GeoServer, isn't it? We have a maintainer, good code coverage... do we have a wiki page? What about licensing, did you sign the copyright assignement agreement? (was that even necessary for an extension? maybe not?).
