Well I have reservations. We are still in qa and bug fix mode. Last time 
I tried to call a freeze in this way people weren't too happy for having 
to freeze for so long. And since I can't guarantee that no more issues 
will come up I can't guarantee that we will be ready to create the 
release tag soon.

But yes, I can ask for a freeze. Perhaps for geotools we are ready to 
create the release tag for 2.5.2 and work from there. Although I have 
not yet even discussed the 2.5.2 release on the geotools lists. So how 
about we proceed as follows:

1. ask for a freeze on geoserver until Monday... I think we will 
probably be able to create the release tag by then (fingers crossed)
2. ask for permission to release gt 2.5.2 and create the release tag, 
updating the 1.7.x branch to work against it

Thoughts?
