As long as the GT plugin is a data store it can be accessed by the REST API, but currently data upload is only supported for some specific file based data stores: * Shapefile * Property file * H2 Database * SpatiaLite Database * App-schema mapping configuration but I'm not sure if this can actually be used to update existing data. Anyway, since we area dealing with vector data the normal way of adding new data would be to use WFS transaction operation: http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/services/wfs/reference.html#transaction Note that only GML is supported by WFS transaction operation and that WFS transaction operation is not supported for all data stores.
