Depends on what container you use.

If you are just running the Windows installer or the -bin distribution, check the commandline window from which you started Jetty/GeoServer ?

Those messages are probably mirrored in the <GEOSERVER_DATA_DIR>/logs/geoserver.log file

In Tomcat it's usually in logs/catalina.out , relative to the Tomcat root.

    1.7.7 is kind of old, I don't remember the causes for a 400
    (without a proper error message).

    The request looks fine, and if all the layers are present in
    gwc/demo then it appears that you have already set
    GEOSERVER_WMS_URL correctly.

    Check the logfiles?
