Ok, I found this in the geoserver.log file:

from /usr/lib/jvm/Geoserver/geoserver/webapps/geoserver/../resources
2010-11-22 12:15:03,825 ERROR [layer.TileLayerDispatcher] - Configuration
/usr/lib/jvm/Geoserver/geoserver/webapps/geoserver/../resources contained no
layers.
Can anyone tell me where exactly where the resources should be?
