Hi,
update java to 8 version in ubuntu 14.04 is a bit tricky...a lot of dependences
have to be satisfied, and it it a bit time spending having to do it by hand.
So for now (up to I will decide to upgrade the system at 16.04) I opted to use
geoserver 2.8.5
The installation worked fine, and I also restored my data dir. However, the
geoserver is very slow, the log continuously reports:
06 ott 12:33:27 WARN [geoserver.catalog] - Error while getting feature type,
flushing cache and retrying: {0}
of course I cleaned the cache and reloaded the config in the admin panel.
Geoserver is extremely slow specially when I list the layers, or datastore...
Any hints for this?

Only solution is tu upgrade java up to 8 or use an older version of geoserver,
isn't it?
Correct. The last version to support java 7 is 2.8.x but it's not supported
anymore (I would not recommend using it,
maybe wait for the 2.9.2 release, due in a few days, to plan your upgrade)
