Well I always thought there was some more worked marked down for the
2.4.0 release train ... and I found it.

I have updated the following pages to show both the critical issues
effecting release, and the count of issues.
- http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOTOOLS/2.4.x

The issues preventing 2.3.3 from being released are basically wrong:
- http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-873 Merge the coverage branch to
the trunk
- http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-1333 StreamingRenderer eats
valuable information when an exception occurrs during layer queriying
- http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-949 Website chaos

In all cases the work is either done, is not serious enough to prevent
release, or can be assigned to a later version.

The issues for 2.4.x can mostly be treated in the same manner:
- many problems are fixed (such as the handling of numeric literals)
- in a few cases modules can be demoted to unsupported status (such as
MySQL needing to handle CoordinateReferenceSystems).
- and in others module maintainers need to be asked what to do (Are the
ArcSDE dummy literals actually enough of a reason to make the module
unsupported?)
- others are not serious enough to prevent release (shapefile using a
low accuracy envelope transform)

If I can ask PMC members to look at this list, we should be well on our
way for 2.4.

Cheers,
Jody

> I just finished going through the unassigned bugs that also did not have
> a module. So everything now has somebody responsible for looking at it.
> I also updated the 2.4.x page to list all critical bugs (ie ones marked
> as preventing release). Previously we only listed blockers (ones marked
> as preventing development). I think I am going to try and use blockers
> for more serious problems in the future - ones that STOP trunk on trunk
> working at all.
