I tried to make my intend a little bit more explicit: the user hints specified
in method signatures are merged with the hints specified at construction time,
and optionnaly with global hints. This is why in my proposal the Hints argument
was left in the method signatures: it is a complement, not a replacement, of
hints specified at construction time since hints are merged rather than
replaced. The intented semantic is "as specified at construction time with only
that hints changed - all other ones untouched". The hint that we want to change
that way without touching the others is Hints.FORCE_LONGITUDE_FIRST_AXIS_ORDER.
