Isn't it bad to mark something as deprecated without a replacement available? I'm quite got used to have lots of deprecated code around, but some people get really mad to have their code forced to use deprecated code without alternatives. > * Do not release referencing and make the rest of geotools > depends on gt-referencing-2.4. In GeoServer I noticed a significant improvement in raster reprojection speed in the 1.7.x series based on the current gt2 trunk, I did not investigate, but I suspect it's due to some improvements you made such as removing some unecessarily chained transforms? > * Any other idea? What about releasing with the explanation that gt2 developers worked on scalability, that performance is better as well, and that stability might have been affected as a result. It's a 2.5.0 anyways, more exposure to end users might help understand if any significant problem slipped into the referencing modules.
