Isn't it bad to mark something as deprecated without a replacement
available? I'm quite got used to have lots of deprecated code
around, but some people get really mad to have their code forced
to use deprecated code without alternatives.

In GeoServer I noticed a significant
improvement in raster reprojection speed in the 1.7.x series
based on the current gt2 trunk, I did not investigate, but I
suspect it's due to some improvements you made such as
removing some unecessarily chained transforms?

What about releasing with the explanation that gt2 developers
worked on scalability, that performance is better as well,
and that stability might have been affected as a result.
It's a 2.5.0 anyways, more exposure to end users might
help understand if any significant problem slipped into
the referencing modules.

Cheers
Andrea
