Just digging up this conversation (discussed at sprint).
I like the idea of:
1) reformatting our active branches (master, stable, maintenance)
2) adding a checkstyle profile to travis.yaml (to catch pull requests)
For this to work we have a couple holes to plug:
- Formatting from Eclipse and IntelliJ need to settle down (right now they
switch how imports are sorted each edit)
- We need to double check that both IDEs are configured with the project
"sun defaults + 110 cols width"
- We need anyone who uses IntelliJ to write a setup / build guide (I have
had numerous people volunteer but so far no takers).
- We probably need to take a solid run at pulling in outstanding pull
requests that would be in trouble (yes you can rebase to before the
reformat, then apply the reformat, and then continue with rebasing but that
is hard).
