Absolutely not. Yet, these are public API, so it
may be worth thinking about it a little, and issuing a proposal
for change (this will hit basically any meaningful user
of Geotools).
If you feel better doing this in code, maybe you can set this
up in a separate module and hack it to satisfaction, and then
create a design doc out of it.
