Ha, reminds me of my experience as a GRASS developer (my first open
source involvement).
The community was great, but every hour programming in C was literally killing
me, it took forever to do the most basic things and forever^2 to get the
result solid.
So I kept what liked (the open source world) and ditched what was causing
me grief. Never looked back since ;-)
