I still write C occasionally e.g. to speed up critical parts of an R
script, and I find it useful retaining enough fluency to understand a
piece of C code when I come across it.

As for C++ - a devil-spawned language that needs a stake driving
through its heart. I bailed about the time that expression templates
(e.g. Boost) where becoming popular and making applications completely
unreadable and undebuggable.

Meanwhile, I try to adhere to the Pragmatic Programmers maxim that one
should learn, or at least play with, one new language every year to
encourage more flexible thinking.
