It's probably a topic worth further discussion. But is this the right list for it?
It's a reasonable place so long as the conversation is kept civil.
It occurs to me that this sort of behavior on the part of the telcos (equivalent to hegemony by governments; is there a term for this?) might be due to a perception of economic loss as value accrues to the top of the value chain. This causes similar tension between the guys who run the land lines and the guys that sell ads or VOIP or whatever and thus the equivalent in that domain is the attempted removal of net neutrality.
Anyway, I thought I saw some stuff about linux-based phones from Motorola; does anyone know if they are developable?
I also saw someone at Foo Camp that had basically constructed a phone out of a GSM module (i think SparkFun sells this stuff) which, while rickety, was completely open.
