My point is that any service that aims to collect data, also has to do a pretty good job at allowing "joe consumers" to access it, because it your "joe conumer" can't read from the service, they'll never decide to become a "joe contributor".
I actually have the same problem with Platial. I put things in, but it's hard to get them out easily. A query of "thai" *near* "woodland hills, ca" gives me results across all of Los Angeles, and neither of the two Thai restaurants that I've added to platial *in* woodland hills actually come up (on the 1st page). Originally I was using platial as a notepad for places I liked, but the lack of usability / findability has made me give up contributing. Obviously there are much more interesting things than just search red dots, but I'm surprised how difficult it is to do that still.
