Meandering from academic discussion of geoanalysis back to the original Google MapMaker topic, where are the other community tools that one would expect to provide contribution, ala OSM - capability for accommodating GPS tracklogs and so on?
Maybe not "Joe Consumer" oriented, needing at least enough technical acumen (that often being not much) to capture and upload the tracklog with a device, but seems everyday folks are getting more and more savvy to such things (Geocaching, consumer GPS units in cars everywhere, and so on) I'm also wondering at what point these ever-more-ubiquitous Garmins and other units suction-cupped to windshields everywhere begin to be available for realtime direct data capture and interaction?
