Hi!

Just a quick update on what we discussed at the AGM.

Firstly, there will be a small increase in subs from 1 April. Only one
pound for almost everyone. The first increase since 1996. The increase
is mainly due to an increase in postage costs and a reduction in income
from shows.

DEH was given a full standard and Patch and Pied standards were combined
into a new fully standardised Pied standard.

The biggest news is probably that a new provisional standard was agreed
for what is normally called here a Red Fox. This name caused some
confusion when I was asked by the proposer what this colour is called
abroad. For a start, this colour doesn't look red at all. Fox to most
people means a white belly as fox is a descriptive term that has been
used for years in mice.

Several NGS members also breed and show cavies and the similarity
between a aaeepp gerbil, and a cavy with similar genetic makeup called
Saffron, has been described as "striking". The name Saffron was adopted
by the NGS for this colour.

I realise that the adoption of a different name to that in common usage
is inconvenient, but I must say I think Saffron is a more appropriate
name.

I will be updating the relevant NGS pages as I get round to them.
