Hello Everyone!! I'm new to the mail list. I was wondering if any of you
are from Florida or if you know of any breeders in Florida. I would like to
purchase some healthy, fancy colored Gerbil which are impossible to find in
the local pet stores.
I purchased my first 3 gerbils at Petsmart last Saturday. One male approx.
3 months old and 2 females approx. 6 weeks old. Two days after I got them,
one of the females started to lick herself and make funny sounds. I picked
her up and noticed that her genital area is red and puffy with little drops
of urine coming out. The other female is fine. Has any one ever had this
happen before? Could she have a vaginal or urinary track infection? Could
the male have hurt her? Could it be contagious? The Pet store is
exchanging her for a healthy one but I still would like to know what she may
have had incase it ever happens again.
