Hello!
We went away on vacation for 3 nights and 4 days. When we returned, one of
our Gerbils was badly injured. Her nose was bloody and very swollen. We
have been treating her with antibiotics and triple antibiotic ointment since
Sunday night. The infection spread to one eye too. She still looks bad but
she is more active now. We are not sure how it happened though. Do you
think her boyfriend attacked her? He did not have any wounds though. Also,
he seems depressed since we separated them Sunday night. We inspected their
wooden nest box and found a staple sticking out on the inside of the roof,
which we quickly removed. Do you think that is what caused it? Is there
anything else we can do for her? She is in an aquarium with Carefresh
bedding and a water bottle. I am putting her food directly on the bedding.
