What harshness? I expressed dismay and asked for the stolen material to
be removed. I don't think that is harsh at all. It was  simple statement
of facts.

Many people would have complained straight to the hosting company, but I
did not think that was appropriate.

mean that this script is protected by copyright? If so, I cannot legally
use it.

Such scripts are of course useless against all but the most casual
copying. Not least because about 30% of people have Java turned off, and
even if the script is run it does not stop material being recovered from
the local cache.
