>My gerbils are safe when they are mailed.

They have been safe...SO FAR. I consider all of the ones you
have shipped to have been lucky.

And you to have been fortunate to not have been caught
shipping.

>I don't mail in hot, cold, or
>rainy weather. The people who buy my gerbils from me pay for the shipping
>and want the animal(s). If the post office doesn't know it's own rules
then
>that is on them. My post office informed me that gerbils and other small
>mammals may be delivered.

As we have said again and again, postal employees don't always
know all the parts of the code. And if they give you bad advice
(such that you CAN ship such animals) you are still in the wrong
if caught...and they are also wrong for having given incorrect advice.
Nobody gets off on that one.

>I feel that the way a gangi wrote was not the best way he could get his
>point across. I felt he was out of line and I e-mailed him privetly about
>that.

I do agree that sometimes their wording is a little too strong.

But the point we are trying to get across is the same.

>I care very much for my animals and I don't feel I'm putting them in any
>danger.

Next time I get something or get something back shredded
or smashed, I will post pictures. My odds here are about one
item 'toasted' every two months.

[one classic recent item was my tax license, I got about half of
it, the half with my address on it....the crumple was in a little
baggie and a form letter saying 'we're so sorry, but we found
your mail' and it arrived two months late. I have more about
ordering parts that came as scrap....]

>We have discussed all this and more on the list before and I read
>everything that everyone had to say and I made an informed desion.

We can't stop you. It *is* your choice.

However, we're going to keep on telling you.

And I'm going to continue to search for ways to do so, conveniently,
inexpensively, and legally.
