Hi Nick,

I my opinion you should definately be handling them
now. But always wash your hands first with pups. It
is a Great time to get them used to human smell and
handling. They are in the stage now where they crawl
fast and will leap out of your hands. Take them out
cupped and completely enclosed in two hands and hold
them directly over a pillow or blanket until the eyes
open. (at about 19 days)

You are at the tail end of being able to tell the
genders (boys versus girls) by the "dimple" or
"nipple" method. There is a picture about half way
down on this site. Soon they will be too furry to see
the nipples.

Good luck with your babies and enjoy!
