Hi Charlie -- a good way to do limited breeding is to
breed the pair, let the parents raise the first litter
(gestation is 24 days). They'll most likely breed the
night of the first birth.
The second litter will come about 35 days later, but
that varies a lot more. At about 4-5 weeks, put dad
and the boys into a large tank 20-30 gallons. You can
keep several boys together. Let one or more girls
raise the second litter with mom. At six weeks put
all the boys from the second litter together and pair
up the girls (I've done fine with girls in trios, but
pairs is the safest way to keep girls).
So you'll need from three to six tank setups, I'd
guess. Litter size from my personal experience is
from 2-6.
Good luck to you,
Donna
