HI, we have had good luck with pairing up two adult females. We did it
by means of a cage divider which was made out 'hardware cloth' (metal
mesh) and very long threaded rods (1/8 in. across) to keep the mesh
rigid. The mesh is cut with heavy duty metal shears so that the edges of
the mesh is dulled and won't hurt the animals. We set them up with the
divider for a couple of weeks. We were not in any rush to take the
divider out.
If the animals have been alone for a long time, you may even find, as we
have found with two of our boys, that they are much happier being
neighbors than cagemates. So we keep them in the same cage but divided
by the mesh.
