The reason I want off of seed mix is because so many of them contain Ethoxyquin. That's a preservative that is not approved for human use and supposedly can cause/attribute to tumors.
My gerbils get a sunflower seed a day and free-feed of the rest of seed. They seem large, glossy and healthy, but I wonder if there's something better for them. The only concern I have with the 'piece' feeding is that with two gerbils in a tank, there might be difficulty with hording..
