Definitely toilet roll tubes - paper towel rolls - lots of cardboard. Also, I've given them blocks of wood to gnaw on. Nice little 2" around strips are good. (Sort of the size you'd make a table leg from) You can get a long length for cheap at the hardware store then cut them down. And of course my little beggars love to gnaw on their metal wheels :)
